Subject _almost_ says it all: my "git" isn't from any .deb, since I'm
far too cool to do that; instead, I'm building from very current
source.  And recently, they removed almost all of the separate
programs like git-ls-files; you're now supposed to invoke "git
ls-files" (two words) instead.
