Firefox 3.0 Whacked out

It was working perfectly for a while.

But all of a sudden my bookmarks are gone,

The forward/back arrows are greyed out and don't work any more.

The box where you can type a new URL and view the current URL no longer
updates to the current URL when I click on a link.

Any idea what went wrong, and how to fix it?
