permissions on an app

Suffering from the dreaded sudo :(

I'm running an app without any hassle if I start a root console , ngo
to the directory its in and type "python -O dingdong.py"
and it works

if I sudo su and try to start it , I get loads of tinker errors.
if I start the app from the menu loads of tinker errors, even if I try
using sudo in the launcher the same errors..
How do you start an application from a menu launcher so it can run as
root.
And how do you become super root, getting permission denied as root
should not happen.
