It may be even simpler if you only need to scale your images, to use
gThumb. Navigate to the directory where they're stored, click-drag or
use the shift-click/ctrl-click method to select specific files, and
then 'Tools >> Scale Images'. A dialog opens for size/destination/etc
options.
