Yes I think somebody here will be able to help you. I have no certitude
about that but except if you have something important in the computer why
don't you try to delete the system and reinstall. If you use gparted you can
delete all your partitions, then reinstall with the cd as a first install
since you will have deleted the system from the hard drive.
As I began Ubuntu only a few months ago wait for some more answers maybe
they will have a better solution.
