It's not possible to give that benefit, because...

LVM2 striping _is_ (software) raid 0.  Choosing between hardware and
software raid of any kind is difficult.

I'd tend to agree, but it depends on the quality of the hardware, the
firmware and the software.  It's not something you could make a sweeping
generalization about.
