Well you could try and do it in the same way that you can read your
/var/mail etc., set up a 'Local delivery'  or "Standard Unix mbox spool
directory" server type. Not exactly sure what problems you'd encounter
due to the CD not having write capability, but it should be easy enough
to test.

Edit|Preferences|Mail Account|Add
- enter some identifying name and use john at localhost
Forward|Server type - Local delivery or Standard Unix mbox spool
directory - try them both
Configuration: path to cd files

With any luck you'll be able to read/view the emails in the same way
that you can read your local /var/mails.
