If it's an entirely new topic and it hijacks the thread in the process, 
then yes, someone will pull out the cluebat.  No one wants to follow "c 
compiler broke, c compiler broke, c compiler broke, can't burn ubuntu 
iso?.." in the middle of the thread list.

If it's a matter of "c compiler broke, c compiler broke, c compiler 
fixed now", and it's still the same content that it's referencing, I'm 
sure most readers won't care.

If this thread continues in this direction, then indeed the topic is 
being hijacked and should probably be changed or ended :-)

I won't say anything else lest I be accused of being a self appointed 
netcop, though.
