Isn't that turned on by default?

Thanks for the clarification Mario.  I've been through so many
combinations of drivers and compiz it has started to bleed together.  :)

Joe:  I have a xorg.conf using the Ubuntu-shipped open source driver
which is working for me with Compiz.  If you do indeed want to get it
running on the laptop and think it might help you, let me know and I'll
send it to you offlist.
