7.10 Install turned Windows partition into swap space!

Is it possible that the student who was installing Ubuntu, by a genuine
mistake, changed the partition type to swap during manually partitioning the
disk.
I don't see any other explaination.
Such a behaviour has NEVER occured before. I have installed Alphas, Betas as
well as stable Ubuntu's right from Hoary Hedgehog days (and a LOT of time
too).
