hplip toolbox

this is the message I get when I run HPLIP tool box.

PyQt not installed. GUI not available. Install "python-qt3" with the 
Synaptic Package Manager (Menu: System -> Administration -> Synaptic 
Package Manager) or run the command "sudo apt-get install python-qt3" in 
a terminal window.

When I run the command as suggested, it tells me that python-qt3 is the 
newest version.
I even uninstalled the qt3 and reinstalled, to no avail.

Any suggestions?
