... I see you do have other USB devices than "just" the printer
attached to your machine, specifically the SmartCard reader - how does
this one behave attached to the USB switch? Does this device work well
in Ubuntu at all? Asides this, I don't like the

entries in your dmesg, but I have to check back on that later as I
haven't yet stumbled across "err = -71" here. Seems a problem to arise
once in a while at the moment, though... :/
