openoffice menus show as lines and dialog boxes are blank [SOLVED]

*Hello Dwain,

 From your report of what had happened to your menus, was what I had 
here on my system...I was running the nvidia drive so I could use the 
desktop effects...So I will try to keep this in mind, and leave the 
desktop effects off, and not to install the nvidia drive for my card...
