Sounds very plausible Nils.
So conclusion must be that if you do not like the advertisers on a 
particular search engine, then change horse, sorry engine, and see if 
that is better. Best of all: Stay with what's available in the Ubuntu 
repositories. Alternatively read reviews and don't make decisions based 
on just a single hit. In this way I have avoided computer disasters for 
quite some years.
