for jumping in. BTW, ATT says I'm not connected to the network on the
wifi and that's why I can't establish a connection at
http://192.168.1.254. Doesn't seem likely to me but that's what they
say. How does one determine if they are connected to another wifi
network besides there own? Anything else just ask and thanks so much for

Just a guess, because the gateway address appears to have been
changed manually.
Do a "netstat -Frn" and see what is listed as your gateway. That
should be the address to link to your router.
If you changed it manually, it's possible a loss of power
(blackout,etc) caused it to reset to factory defaults. Any manual
changes you did would be erased.
