atheros w-lan card on ubuntu 8.04

Do you have the linux-restricted-modules package installed? The madwifi 
driver is included in that package. However the madwifi driver doesn't 
work with all cards. Please tell us which WLAN card you have. You can 
find out with the command

lspci

in a terminal. You can copy&paste the output of the command to your email.
