Ext2 and ext3 file systems store filenames separately from other
information about files (which stems from the fact that there can be
multiple filenames linked to one file, or even none in case of an open
and then unlinked file). This means that after a file system gets
corrupted and repaired, e2fsck might recover contents of some files
while their original location and name is lost. You can examine the
files, perhaps using the 'file' program, and decide whether they have
valuable contents or whether you recognize where they come from and
how they have been named.
