Laptop does not always recognise server

On U6.06 - no
on U8.04 - Yes

First difference found! (Although adding the line to the U6.06 machine 
and rebooting to force all config files to be reloaded did not seem to 
stop it resolving the server name!)

On both machines, resolv.conf contains:

search DMJ-Consultancy.local
nameserver 192.168.74.31
