Thanks to your both efforts and support:
For me the Ubuntu 8.04 and FF extension problems are SOLVED ! ;-D

Mario is correct:
Yoannis suggestion to erase everything from and in FF3 is NOT
necessary !!

I am very very short in time just now and cannot give more precise info
