Hi!
Welcome to Ubuntu and this List!
Your NIC (Network Interface Card) is behaving just as it should! When
your PC is off, it can be switched over the network sending a "magic
packet", but this is not possible in Sleep mode. You can probably
(depending on your PC) turn this off in your BIOS. To Access it,
reboot your PC and while you see a Logo or a screen showing your cpu
and RAM hit either DEL or F2, or lookut for something like
"Hit <KEY> to enter setup"
There look around for a setting concering "Wake on Lan".
