This is odd and has nothing to do with Jefrey's problem !

He already has a working CRT or TFT monitor and needs to recognize its
detailled specs 
and set it accordingly, first the correct GPU and then the monitor !!

Well, if it's a CRT then the Hz's vary ...
... if it's a TFT then it is normally 60Hz for display screen's
frequency !?!
