What version exactly do you mean when you say "Ubuntu 6"? There is 6.06
and 6.10.

In any case, at this point in time I would recommend neither. Ubuntu
8.04 has a release candidate out and will be released on April 24, if
all goes well. It is vastly improved over 6.x. 8.04 is a Long Term
Support (LTS) release and will receive updates for 3 years for desktop
packages, and 5 years for server packages. Installers and up-to-date
