Ubuntu 7.10 Desktop Disk

I have downloaded the Ubuntu 7.10 Desktop and burned it to disk.  It runs
from my CD in Windows.  The three programs run properly in Windows.  From
what I read Ubuntu is actually running from the CD.  Is this functionally
all this disk is meant to do?  In trying to run Thunderbird it is asking for
information for an email address I had 7+ years ago.  I believe I will wait
untill I have my dedicated Ubuntu computer up to try Thunderbird.
