Shut Down Problem on Ubuntu Laptop

FWIW: I have an old Lapnote (350Mhz/128Mb/20GB) laptop that does the
same even on Hardy. I've tried the standard noacpi etc., but still have
the problem. I've not bothered to troubleshoot it further as I only use
it once in awhile as a test machine. My other laptop (Thinkpad A21M)
doesn't have the problem. If you finally figure out the problem, please
post back with the solution.
