Bug: Kubuntu-8.04beta-desktop-i386

I installed Kubuntu-8.04beta-desktop-i386, and then discovered that,
no matter what I did, that I was *UN*able to administer the system.
What do I mean by that?:
Going into any of the "control panels",
some of them would reguire "Administrator" authorization to function.
I'd click on the "Administration" authorization button,
be presented with the authorization dialogue,
input my password to authenticate myself to "sudo",
and then not be able to do anything, because the GUI
administration functions didn't recognize me as administrator...
i.e. there's a bug in the GUI sudo authentication which results in
NO POSSIBILITY of entering ADMINISTRATOR mode, leaving the system
ABSOLUTELY UNUSABLE. The obvious solution? "Upgrade" to 7.10.
You can *lie* that this is a beta, but it's at most an alpha.
