Need help getting install to work

Once I had a CD-RW player, which stopped reading disks well. I tried to
change BIOS settings, tried a different data cable and another
connector, and whatnot. Finally it came to my mind to blow some air
strongly to the lens of the laser (being carefull not to spit on it).
That made the problem go away :-o Might be worth trying before throwing
away the player. Carefull wiping with a soft cleaning cloth, perhaps
with some isopropyl alcohol on it, would be a more effective way of
doing this.
