It does, actually; I'll keep an eye on my Ubuntu servers and their
zlib situations.

Another poster alluded to another idea worth mentioning, though.

If you take a Linux box...one with some power, not a P2/300, for
example, load Windows XP under VMware, you'll get a very powerful tool:
an instance of Windows that works like it ought to.

Imagine clicking an icon, and up comes a Windows-install, full
screen. Go into the "System" directory and pull out random DLLs. Import
a couple of viruses, the nastier the better. Just for fun, scribble
something on the screen or whatever. Then with a button-sequence to go
from fullscreen to windowed mode, select "reboot" from there. When it
comes up, it's completely unharmed, ready to go, just like it was last time.

This is called a 'persistant disk', and VMWare has really done great
in making it. You could setup someone with an icon under Linux, when
they select it, up comes your accounting package, full screen,
fearlessly. This is probably the best way to run Windows that I've seen.
VMWare is free, parts are in the repo; it's not a big thing to do.

I'd be doing it now, but for two things: no copy of XP, and no
reason to run Windows apps. But it's really worth the install! (Then
clamav becomes unnecessary.)
