importing 'ubuntu-users Archives' into Evolution

Evolution's filtering and search capabilities are great. I want to
import mailing list archives like 'ubuntu-users', so I can easily find
postings on issues/problems. I tried importing the downloaded unzipped
archive text file as a mbox and I get about 50% of the messages, at less
that's what it looks like from the line count of a grep 'From: ' on
archive's text. Also there are a small number of messages which do get
scrambled.

Does anybody know a better to import mail archives? Or anyway of
transforming mail archive text files into the minimal requirements of a
mbox?
