Sound / power management problems

Hi everyone.
I have a Dell Latitude C600 laptop. This machine dual boots Feisty and
XP (this doesn't matter to my problem in fact...)
The problem I have is the following. If I leave the machine alone for a
while (let's say for lunch time), when I come back, I have no sound at
all. I can't play music through Rhythmbox or Banshee. I found that
restarting alsa-utils solve the problem.
The problem happens only if the machine idles for a while (no music
playing, no web browsing... just idling). If I I leave banshee or
Rythmbox playing musing during lunch time, everything is fine.
This is probably related to power management, but I don't know what to
look to solve the problem...
In case this is information is important, here's the result of lspci:

Is there a way to solve this problem or should I stick with restarting
the service when the problem occurs?
BTW, I seem to have some other problems related to power management...
for example: system never restarts correctly after "suspend to ram"
(suspend) or "suspend to disk" (hibernate).
