Network Manager

Hi all,

How does network manager interact with ifup and how does one configure
network manager to allow or prevent users from upping or downing an
ethernet connection (and which ethernet connections they may up or
down)?

Also how does network manager interact with dhcp clients and their
configuration?

The network manager homepage seems to avoid documentation in favour of
advertising why network manager is a good thing.
