Performed the memory test and there were no errors. The result of free is"

bob at java:~$ free
                      total used free shared
buffers cached
Mem: 2059460 1837756 221704 0 40492
514572
-/+ buffers/cache: 1282692 776768
Swap: 6032368 0 6032368

I can't see any problems with the memory and can't see why dmesg would
complain as it did. After rebooting, however, the error grep dmesg only had
one error as follows:

bob at java:~$ sudo dmesg | grep error
[ 146.107557] powertweakd[7223]: segfault at 0000000000000006 rip
00002b498d401620 rsp 00007fff1de80488 error 4

There were no hald problems either.
Thank you.
Bob
