Network Admin and buggy driver/hardware interaction

Hello all,

I have a laptop who's wired ethernet has never worked just quite right.
I love the wireless, but if I have to transfer large files, or back up
the hard drive, then I want to plug in to get better throughput. My
problem is that in order to make this work, this is what I have to do:

1) In network-admin, disable wireless and wired
2) In a terminal, $ sudo root rmmod r8169; sudo root modprobe r8169
3) In network-admin, enable wired connection
4) Profit!

This is because something about my hardware and the r8169 driver not
getting along. I have to unload and reload it in order for it to work
properly (that, or disable wireless, enable wired, and then reboot). So
my question is, how can I automate this so that when I either (a)
activate the wired connection under the connections tab, or (b) select a
wired-only location, the r8169 driver is automatically unloaded/reloaded?

Thanks for your help,

Michael

P.S. This is an Acer 9410z w/ a Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL8111/8168B ethernet controller, and the 2.6.20-16-generic kernel.
