CHEERS,
i'm also new in linux, but what i know about this topic is:
you should go to the file "/etc/apt/sources.list" and add your mirrors, not
writing any command there...
(from wiki:
In computing <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computing>, a *mirror* is a
direct copy of a data <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data> set. On the
Internet <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet>, a *mirror site* is an
exact copy of another Internet site. Mirror sites are most commonly used to
provide multiple sources of the same information, and are of particular
value as a way of providing reliable access to large
downloads<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Download>.
Mirroring is a type of file
synchronization<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_synchronization>
.)
thus this file will just tell your OS, which package is belong to which
source. then after using "apt-get update" it will goes and check thoese
sites to update package database. after that "apt-get install" will command
the pc to download the file, it goes and check the database that this
package is belong to what site,if it founded, easy... else you would have
the ERROR...
so, i think you should first know the package that you wanna use, is in
which source. i also have debian in my PC, my problem with debian is: how to
know the package that i'm looking for it, is in what sourc... if anyone
knows, i would be thankful to hear it+if anything wrong in my small written
text, plz correct me, thx...
