How to use hdparm on Feisty

Hi all

I have a box with feisty setup and it runs very slow. I'm not sure,
but I think it's a problem with the disk:

/dev/sda:
 IO_support   =  0 (default 16-bit)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    = 256 (on)
 geometry     = 9964/255/63, sectors = 160086528, start = 0

When I try to enable dma or 32bit:

root at host:~# hdparm -d 1 -c 1 /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 setting 32-bit IO_support flag to 1
 HDIO_SET_32BIT failed: Invalid argument
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
 IO_support   =  0 (default 16-bit)

There must be a way to do this, but i'm not sure how. Since in Feisty
all disks are used with the scsi driver, there is probably another way
to enable dma, but I could not find it so far.

Nils
