Problem with gutsy upgrade

Hi, ive yet to get into a KVM terminal into my machine, though after  
the gutsy upgrade from fiesty it killed my ftsab partitions which  
were moved into a different dev location with some new device  
manager. The machine wouldnt reboot either so i could revert the  
kernel, until i moyunted my var partition back to its original state  
now the machine is not responding !

What am i suppose to do ? I believe the installer was missing some  
compile options in the kernel hence the machine was killed, hence the  
warranty statement in terminal welcome message ! This has never  
before, the upgrade has always happened quit smoothly, I believe it  
wasnt a problem until the machine kind of rebooted suddenty and the  
partitions were missing.
