Really dumb complaint - we hate the light- brown desktop at the start!

To make the change:

manually edit line 61(backcolor) of

/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default

It will probably be #dab082, I changed mine to #000000 which is black

Save and restart GDM (Ctrl + Alt + Backspace)
