Getting sound with Flash web objects

I have installed ubuntu 7.10 together with Firefox 2.0.0.6.  When I tried to
view a flash object, I found that I needed to install an appropriate codec.  I
tried Gnash, but it did not work.  I have read now that Gnash doesn't yet work
with the most recent versions of the Flash files.  So I uninstalled that and
installed the current linux Adobe flash plug-in.  This works for the video, but
I get no sound.

Any suggestions?
