Problem installing Ubuntu 7

Hey, I'm trying to install ubuntu but I'm having no luck. I choose the
first option on the CD (start and install ubuntu). It boots up and then
when I log in it says,
"Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out
yourself this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you
are out of diskspace. ..."
The error details says,
Gtk-Warning **: This process is currently running setuid or setgid...
Any idea what could be the issue? Is there another way to get Ubuntu
installed?
