Hello
I am struggling with proper NIC settings !
The Thinkpad has 2 NIC's:
Prism 2.5 Wavelan
Intel PRO / 100VE
Currently I am able to access WWW and it seems to be:
Wired Ethernet (eth0)
Very curious:
>From Connection Information under the "Double Screen" in the upper panel
I get showed all IP's set to ZERO's ?!?
How comes ?
My /etc/network/interfaces shows:
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
auto eth1
iface wlan0 inet static
address 192.168.144.222
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.144.120
wireless-essid [my essid]
auto wlan0
Well I see: There are no entries for wlan0 and
wired I do not need the essid !?
Or do I messed up again ???
Wireless is working as wlan0 under eth1 ...
and eth0 shall be wired ???
Normally I do set individual IP's for these 2 NIC's and
wired = 232
wireless = 222
Data provided for this Gutsy installation was 232, netmask,
gateway and the 2 DNS's. !
Please advise and hint to my proper settings.
TIA & cheers, svobi
