It sounds as if you have shifted the "Window List" applet across - the
result would be that only part of the panel would be used for listing
windows (" taskbar",  if you prefer).

You should see a small dotted vertical bar - right-click it and check in
the "About" to find that it says "Window List". Then unlock it from the
panel, and you can drag it with the mouse. If I am right, that will give
you a larger space for your window list. You can lock it again when you are
happy with the position.

I'm a bit surprised to see that you have posted this in answer to a mail
that more or less gives the same solution.... see if moving the applet
works for you.
