Upgrade or reinstall

Hello Don,
If it's ok to blown away all files and programs in your 5.11, then I'd
strongly suggest a reinstall. Don't worry about messing up MBR. As long as
you install the new ubuntu over 5.11 partition, it will be OK. But of course,
backing up all files including in XP is a wise move.
If you want to take the upgrade path, if I remember correctly, you must
upgrade one version at a time, so, 5.11 --> 6.06 --> 7.04 --> 7.10.
