How to keep kernel from upgrade?

After upgrading, is your kernel image still in the right place?
If so, just add the entry again in the bootloader configuration.
If not, then it might be a matter of overwriting:
- what is the full path and filename of the custom kernel?
- what are the installed kernels?
- what is the bootloader configuration file content before and after the 
upgrade?
