mplayer fullscreen + compiz

I'm using 7.10 with compiz on a dell 630m with 915 intel chipset.
Mplayer with the x11 driver doesnt go full screen. xv works but you get
a blank screen when rotating the cube for example. Gl, gl2 drivers work
like the xv.
Xmame works even worse. Xmame-x11 doesnt load when using compiz and
xmame-sdl doesnt go full screen.
Do you think these problems are related to the intel driver or to
compiz? Will we ever see metacity with nice effects as a default in
ubuntu? 
Metacity just works but you miss some effects like transparencies.
