Question about effects and 7.10

Just did an upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10.

Most seems well, except when I enable desktop effects from "appearance", 
the windows decorations disappear (title bar, the X and _ buttons, etc.) 
so I can't move the windows anymore.  If I revert to the "no effects" 
setting, they reappear.
