Connecting to PCs under (Ed)ubuntu Desktop 7.04

I think you could use SSH for this. On the Ubuntu machine install the 
package openssh-server and on the XP machine install the program putty. 
Then connect from your XP machine to the Ubuntu machine. However I can't 
help you much further because I have never tried that myself.
