Connecting to PCs under (Ed)ubuntu Desktop 7.04

Hi Mike,
I am already using the crossover cable, and it works.

The router isnt the better choice for me because this
isnt a fixed configuration. I am justing needing to
transfer some Gigabytes from one computer to other
before to travel... 

and I need to do this considering that one computer
has the Ubuntu desktop 7.04 installed on it, and the
other has the Windows XP, ... 

but, as I have two Edubuntu Desktop 7.04 Live Cds, I
can do that considering two pcs under Edubuntu.

I just need to learn how to configure them for this
purpose.
