Dell Inspiron 1200 Ubuntu 7.10 Fan not working

I installed 7.10 in my Dell laptop yesterday and am very pleased. The video
is much better than in 7.04 and it was much easier for me to install the
restricted wifi drivers BUT I cannot get the cpu fan to work. I was able to
install the sensor to get the cpu temperature but I haven't been able find a
way to get the fan working. I have searched for info, maybe I am looking for
the wrong thing, but I cannot find anything that is helpful. I am afraid to
use it much for fear that it will overheat. Oh can anyone tell me what the
normal temperature range is for the processor in the 1200?

P.S. Under 7.04 I was finally able to get a little program to get the fan
working but set on automatic it ran all the time flat out. When I have the
hard drive with XP installed in the laptop the fan is seldom on. Of course
with XP I have no idea what the cpu temperature is.
