Screen Resolution for wide screen

 I have a view sonic 19" wide screen (TFT)  Monitor requiring 1440x900
resolution, how it could be adjusted in fiesty (Ubuntu 7.04) ?

I tried the restricted drivers, the driver got installed and enabled too but
no addition to the output of 1024 Max. I tried envy but it did not work. the
xserver.xorg file is being changed! please help me out with
detail how to.
