(K)Ubuntu on iMac

Hi

yesterday I tried the live beta cdrom of Gutsy on a iMac. I booted the 
iMac and held the c-key pressed down. Nothing happened and the screen 
remained blank. Can we not run the live CD i386 on a Mac?
