Just FYI, it is an opinion, but not "just his". Havoc Pennington at the
time was one of the main Gnome guys, chairman of the Gnome steering
committee, and founder of freedesktop.org. He now works at RedHat.

It's the essay that stood at the heart of the controversy that developed
when the Gnome developers decided to radically reduce the number of
options when transitioning from Gnome 1 to Gnome 2.
Its general direction of thinking heavily influenced the Gnome Human
Interface Guidelines as they stand today.
